The University of Gondar is accepting applications for the Mastercard Foundation Graduate Scholars Program for the 2025/2026 academic year. This initiative will award 160 graduate scholarships over eight years to academically talented yet disadvantaged youth from Ethiopia, Somalia, Eritrea, Djibouti, and South Sudan. The program aims to develop transformational leaders through comprehensive academic and non-academic support.

Eligibility Requirements:
To ensure that the scholarship reaches those most deserving and with the greatest potential for impact, the following eligibility criteria have been established for both Ethiopian and International applicants:
- Eligibility Requirements for Ethiopian Applicants:
- Full-time graduate study at the University of Gondar.
- Bachelor’s degree from a recognized University (within the last 5 years).
- Minimum CGPA of 2.75/4.0 (or equivalent).
- Ethiopian citizen and resident (at least 5 years).
- Disadvantaged based on disability or socioeconomic status (not able to cover study expenses).
- Specific categories: Youth with disabilities, economically disadvantaged female applicants.
- Passing score on the Ethiopian Ministry of Education’s GAT.
Note: Not currently enrolled in a graduate program.
- Eligibility Requirements for International Applicants (Somalia, Eritrea, South Sudan, Djibouti):
- Full-time graduate study at the University of Gondar. Bachelor’s degree from a recognized
- University with English as the medium of instruction (within the last 5 years).
- Minimum CGPA of 2.75/4.0 at graduation.
- Citizen and resident of respective country (at least 5 years).
- Disadvantaged based on disability or socioeconomic status (not able to cover study expenses).
- Specific categories: Youth with disabilities, financially disadvantaged female applicants.
- Passing score on the Ethiopian Ministry of Education’s GAT.
Scholarship Benefits:
Full tuition, accommodation/boarding, stipend, books, academic, financial, and social support, and experiential activities.
Application Procedure:

- Medical paper for disability (if applicable).
- Completed and signed Scholarship Application Form.
- Summary of academic, non‐academic, and volunteer work.
- All school and university transcripts/student copies.
- Two recommendation letters.
- National ID/passport.
- Testimonial of economic disadvantage.
- Police clearance letter.
- Testimonial of community giveback and leadership.
